Antikes japanisches Kodansu aus Zelkova-Burlholz, kleine Kommode mit eleganten Messingbeschlägen - Holz - Japan - Meiji Periode (1868-1912)

Item Description: A beautiful Japanese antique small chest of drawers (kodansu / 小箪笥) from the Meiji to Taisho period, crafted entirely from zelkova (keyaki) wood displaying a magnificent burl grain (tamamoku). The exterior surfaces — front, sides, back, and top — are all enveloped in richly swirling, figured grain patterns in warm reddish-brown tones, giving this piece a striking natural presence highly prized in traditional Japanese furniture. The chest features five drawers in total: two small side-by-side drawers at the top, each fitted with a decorative brass knob pull featuring a triangular motif set within a cloud-shaped escutcheon (kumogata), and three full-width drawers below, each fitted with elegant arched brass bail handles mounted on ornate flower-shaped escutcheons. The piece rests on a low base frame, adding a refined finishing touch to its overall form. The warm patina of aged zelkova burl, combined with the graceful brass hardware, makes this a compelling decorative piece suitable as a jewelry chest, display cabinet, or interior accent in both traditional and contemporary settings. Size Height: 30 cm Width: 30 cm Depth: 21 cm Weight: 3,250 g / 3.25 kg Condition Shows age-appropriate wear including surface scratches, soiling, and staining throughout; one drawer interior has a red stain, and other drawers show dirt and residue on the interior surfaces, but the overall structure is solid and all drawers open and close. NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. I appreciate your cooperation.
