Magnificent large figurine group of a “Master Violinist” boy, original German name “Meistergeiger”, creation of the famous Metzler & Ortloff Manufaktur, in excellent condition. It depicts a young boy playing violin while little chicks and ducklings listen. Hand painted mainly in light blue, naturalistic vivid yellow color of the chicks and deep blue of the ducklings jewel. The porcelain factory Metzler & Ortloff was the second largest porcelain manufacturer from Ilmenau Thuringia, which existed between 1873 and 1976 and was primarily known for its artistic porcelain items. Many well known sculptors and designers worked for Metzler & Ortloff the list actually reads itself like a “Who’s Who”of that time, including names like Horst Aschermann, Josef Baier, Klára Herczeg/ Claire Weiss, Carl Nacke, Gustav Oppel and many others. It is in excellent condition, beautifully sculpted and glazed, GDR and MO marked in the back of the base, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
