Wanduhr - Junghans - - Eiche - 1910-1920

Junghans – Large Decorative Wall Clock – Solid Oak – Spiral Gong – Germany – Early 20th Century Elegant and large antique wall clock produced by Junghans, one of the most respected German clock manufacturers of the late 19th and early 20th century. The clock dates from the early 20th century (circa 1905–1915). The original mechanical movement is clearly signed with the Junghans eight-point star trademark with the letter “J”, a mark used by the company during this period. The clock is housed in a beautifully crafted solid oak case with rich carved decoration, turned columns and an architectural crest. The warm oak grain and impressive proportions make this clock a very decorative interior piece. With a height of almost one meter, it is a striking and elegant wall clock. The dial features an ornate brass center and decorative corner spandrels with Arabic numerals, protected by glass. The spring-driven Junghans movement has been cleaned and oiled and runs well. The clock strikes the hours and half hours on a spiral gong, producing a pleasant clear sound. This model represents a typical example of the decorative German wall clocks produced around 1900, when Junghans was one of the largest clock manufacturers in the world. The clock is original and complete, including the pendulum and winding key. Condition: Very good antique condition. The movement has been cleaned and oiled. Minor traces of age consistent with use. Dimensions: Height: 98 cm (38.6 in) Width: 40 cm (15.7 in) Depth: 19 cm (7.5 in) Material: solid oak Movement: mechanical, spring driven Strike: spiral gong (hour and half hour) Origin: Germany Brand: Junghans Period: early 20th century The clock will be carefully packed and shipped with great attention to safety.
