Hagi ware is celebrated for its soft, earthy texture and its "Hagi-no-Nanabake" (Seven Transformations) characteristic, where the tea slowly permeates the fine crackles in the glaze over time, deepening the bowl's character and color through use. This piece showcases Kimura Kōji's expertise in handling the clay and glaze. The subtle, warm tones of the clay are complemented by a translucent, slightly milky glaze that pools beautifully in the rustic crevices. Its generous form and comfortable weight make it an excellent choice for a centered and meditative tea practice. Condition In excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. The natural surface textures and fine glaze crackling (kannyu) are intentional and highly prized characteristics of authentic Hagi ware. Please refer to the photos for details.
