unknown - Quranic Manuscript Page - Seljuk Turkey - 1080

This is a very ancient manuscript page from the Seljuk era, almost a millennia ago and is of Turkish origin. The folio recounts scriptures from the final verses of chapter 5, Al-Maidah (The Spread Table), together with the Surah (header) of chapter 6, Al-Anam (Cattle) v1-5. The final verses (v,119-120) of Chapter 5 (Surah Al-Ma'idah) in the Quran serve as the conclusion to the dialogue between Allah and Prophet Jesus (Isa) on the Day of Judgment. These verses emphasize the reward for truthfulness and divine sovereignty. These support the notion of the importance of sincerity in all your dealings, that success is measured by how you follow your faith, knowing that all matters refer back to Allah. Surah Al-An'am (Chapter 6), Verses 1-5 of the Quran focus on establishing the Oneness of God (Tawhid), His absolute power as Creator, the certainty of the afterlife, and the stubbornness of those who deny these signs. These verses were revealed in Mecca and emphasize the foundations of faith during a time of persecution. The condition is 'fair' given the water staining to the folio and some professional repairs (best seen on the rear of the manuscript image 26-03g). However, for a manuscript 975 years old, it has been preserved remarkably well. This is a rare manuscript worthy of any collection. Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing. Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
