A well-proportioned and decorative piece, with a richly carved wooden case showing clear influences of late historicism with early Jugendstil elements. The case is made of solid wood with a warm, deep tone and features detailed carvings, turned columns and an architectural top section. The proportions are elegant and balanced, making it a strong decorative as well as functional object. The movement is a classic Junghans spring-driven mechanism, signed, and fitted with a gong striking system. It strikes the full hours and once on the half hour, producing a clear and pleasant tone.
