Brosche - 18 kt Gelbgold, Silber - Diamant-Sternenexplosion

This Victorian era star burst brooch is in its original condition and surely 19th century made in Paris, France. The center of the star is set with a sparkling white old brilliant cut round diamond of around 0.28ct. The rest of the 42 diamonds are cut in old rose cut. The six pointed star is made of silver with the marking of a French boar head on the side of one of the points. Silver is used as the preferred metal for diamond settings as it enhances the white color. White gold was not invented yet. The back is gold plated as was usual in the 19th century; silver would stain the clothing... The pin is in 18ct yellow gold and marked with the French eagle head. The back of the brooch, (the part with the clasp and pin and screw) can be screwed of completely. The diameter is 3.3cm from point to point. This star burst model was all the rage around 1880 and is still a very wearable eyecatcher today. Please take a good look at the photos for all details. We leave all jewellery in their original state; we leave the cleaning and polishing up to your taste. All items are checked in-house by our jeweller and gemmologist. Shipped and tracked insured from the Netherlands (within the European Union). You can expect to received your item in 5 business days or less.
