Description
[Description]
This is a rare, museum-quality find: a Japanese "Noragi" (traditional workwear jacket) from the pre-World War II era (early 20th century). This piece is an authentic "Deadstock" item that has been carefully preserved in a traditional "Tsuchikura" (earth-walled storehouse) for decades.
Notably, the original basting stitches (shitsuke-ito) are still present on the collar, proving that this garment has never been worn. The fabric is a crisp, hand-loomed indigo cotton featuring a classic vertical stripe pattern. The interior and hem are reinforced with deep indigo panels, showcasing the functional beauty and durability of Japanese rural tailoring.
Unlike most antique Noragi that show heavy "Boro" repairs, this item is in pristine, mint condition. It is a perfect specimen for collectors of indigo textiles, folk art (Mingei), or for high-end interior display.
