Tomesode is a type of kimono worn by women, and is the most prestigious formal kimono worn by married women. Among these, tomesode with a black base color is called “kuro-tomesode,” and the fabric is made of silk crepe with no ground pattern and a gorgeous pattern on the hem. Today, kuro-tomesode with five crests is used as the first formal kimono for married women. Originally, however, tomesode of various colors were worn, but after the Meiji period (1868-1912), the concept of Western black formal dress was introduced, and black became the official color. The hem features depictions of various people from Edo-period streets. Size: Width, including sleeves: 130cm Length: 158cm Condition: There is a faint stain on the lining. Other than that, it is in excellent condition. Please see pictures detail.
