Dial and Hands
The silver sunburst dial is a masterclass in understated elegance, catching the light beautifully to reveal its fine radial brushing. It features applied silver-tone baton indices with black inserts, providing excellent legibility against the bright dial surface. The applied Omega logo sits proudly at twelve o'clock above the crisp, serif-style OMEGA AUTOMATIC text, while the Genève script is perfectly preserved in the lower half. A framed date aperture at three o'clock adds practical functionality. The black stick hands are clean and well-preserved, complementing the indices perfectly. Upon close visual inspection, the dial remains in stunning condition, free from notable spots, moisture damage, or discoloration, presenting a highly attractive and fresh aesthetic.
Case and Crystal
The 21 millimeter stainless steel case exhibits a classic round profile with sharp, distinct lugs that retain their factory lines and faceted edges. The polished surfaces of the bezel and case flanks display honest, light handling marks consistent with careful wear over the decades, without any deep scratches or signs of over-polishing. The original Omega-signed fluted crown is present and well-defined. The screw-down caseback features crisp WATERPROOF engraving on the exterior, while the interior is properly hallmarked with the reference 566.002. The acrylic crystal features a date magnifier and retains the original, highly desirable Omega symbol engraved perfectly in its center, showing only faint surface wear that does not detract from the clear view of the dial.
Movement
Powering this elegant timepiece is the Omega caliber 681, a sophisticated automatic movement featuring 24 jewels and adjusted to two positions. The copper-toned plates and rotor are beautifully finished and display crisp engravings, including the Omega logo, caliber number, and the serial number 28656071, which correctly dates the watch to approximately 1969. The movement presents very cleanly, with intact screw heads and bright ruby jewels. Running in vintage operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the era. The timegrapher records a deviation of +50 to +59 seconds per day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a period-correct stainless steel mesh bracelet that perfectly complements the vintage aesthetic of the case. The fine mesh pattern drapes comfortably on the wrist and secures via a sliding clasp mechanism, showing minimal signs of wear and maintaining a bright, cohesive look with the watch head.
Condition
This Omega Genève is presented in excellent vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally preserved, showing no significant flaws or aging. The stainless steel case retains strong geometry and honest, light surface wear. The movement is clean and fully operational, and the original signed crown and engraved crystal remain intact, making this a highly compelling piece for collectors of vintage ladies watches.
Dimensions
The stainless steel case measures 21 millimeters in diameter, excluding the signed crown. The lug-to-lug distance provides a graceful and compact profile, perfectly suited for an elegant ladies wrist.
Remarks
Finding a vintage ladies Omega with such a clean dial, original signed components, and a capable automatic movement is becoming increasingly difficult. The combination of the sunburst dial, practical date function, and stylish mesh bracelet makes this Genève a versatile and highly wearable vintage treasure.
History
The Omega Genève line was introduced in the 1950s as a tribute to the brand's top-tier watchmakers in Geneva, Switzerland. By the late 1960s, the Genève collection had evolved to represent a broad range of versatile, elegant, and reliable timepieces for both men and women. These models often incorporated the same high-quality automatic movements found in Omega's more expensive lines, housed in sleek, modern cases. Today, vintage Genève models are celebrated for their classic design language, robust engineering, and enduring elegance.
