Seltenes 50 cm langes japanisches Kiseru-Pfeifenrohr – Edo-Stil Zashiki-Kiseru - Bambus, Metall (Legierung) - Unknown (Japanese Craftsman) - Japan - Spätes Edo‑Zeitalter – Meiji‑Zeitalter (Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts)

"-------------------- This lot features an exceptionally long Japanese traditional smoking pipe known as a "Kiseru." Measuring an impressive 50 cm in length, this pipe is approximately twice as long as a standard Kiseru (typically around 25 cm). Cultural Context of the Long Kiseru: In the Edo period, exceptionally long pipes were known as "Zashiki-Kiseru" (Indoor Pipes). They were favored by high-ranking courtesans (Oiran), kabuki actors, and samurai as a symbol of status and "Mie" (conspicuous display). For samurai, a long, sturdy pipe could even serve as a secondary means of self-defense. The Benefit of Length: Beyond its visual impact, the extraordinary length of the "Rau" (the bamboo middle section) serves a practical purpose: as the tobacco smoke travels through the long tube, it cools down significantly before reaching the mouth, resulting in a much smoother and milder flavor compared to shorter pipes. Craftsmanship: Material: Hand-selected bamboo for the body (Rau) with traditional metal fittings for the bowl (Kishigane) and mouthpiece (Suikuchi). Length: 50.0 cm Width: 3.5 cm (at the widest point) Weight: Balanced for indoor use. Condition: This is a vintage/antique item with a beautiful aged patina on both the bamboo and metal parts. Please note that the internal airflow has not been tested, and there may be historical tobacco residue or clogging within the tube. It is sold as a cultural artifact and collector's item. Please refer to the photos for the visual condition. -------------------- Japan Import All photos were taken by the seller. They also show the actual product to be delivered. Shipping Shipped by FedEx or EMS with tracking number and compensation. International Buyers - Please Note: : Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. : Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. : These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up - do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. : We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as “gifts” - International government regulations prohibit such behavior."
