A large and impressive silver-plated Jugend bowl with original cut glass insert, made in Sweden in the early 1900s. The metal frame is decorated all the way around with a band of roses and leaves in high relief, deeply cast, with the silver and oxidized dark background giving the flowers a wonderful depth and contrast. The folding handle is flat with an open-work geometric Art Nouveau pattern cut through it. It is a big, heavy, beautiful piece. The glass insert sits perfectly in the frame and has a starburst cut motif in the center. The glass is thick and clear. Marked in two places with NS-1, indicating first-grade silver plating. The condition is good overall. Light patina on the metal, three marks to the underside, some wear to the silver plating, and a few small chips around the rim of the glass insert, visible in the photos. No cracks, no breaks, no repairs. The bowl stands stable.
