By early 2020, the aesthetic migrated to TikTok, where it evolved into a more varied and character-driven style. While its predecessor, "Weirdcore", focuses on a more aggressive and disturbing sense of alienation, often utilizing low-quality digital edits and threatening text, Dreamcore is generally characterized by a softer, more ethereal, and even "calm" atmosphere. It is an aesthetic of "peaceful loneliness," offering an escape into a permanent home for the soul where the noise of modern life is replaced by the soft hum of a quiet building. The Dreamcore audience is predominantly young, skewed toward Gen Alpha, Gen Z and Millennials. On TikTok, 66% of the audience falls within the 18–34 age range.
