Daum Nancy - Tischlampe - Seltene Tischlampe am Seeufer aus Blau-Grünem und Bernstein-Cameo-Glas – Frankreich, ca. 1900–1910 - Glas

A rare and highly atmospheric Daum Nancy table lamp, created in France circa 1900-1910, and standing 41 cm high. This refined Art Nouveau model combines a sculptural mushroom-form shade with a matching slender foot, both executed in beautifully nuanced blue-green, smoky brown, and golden amber glass, with the décor coming alive dramatically when illuminated. The lamp is decorated with an elegant lakeside landscape of trees, reeds, and still water, rendered in finely acid-etched cameo glass. The composition is especially evocative, with the dark silhouette work standing against a luminous opalescent ground that shifts from cool aquatic tones to warm sunset-like highlights. This type of scenic decoration is among the most poetic expressions of the Daum Nancy workshops, where nature was transformed into light, colour, and atmosphere. Produced at the height of the French Art Nouveau period, this lamp reflects the artistic spirit of the École de Nancy, of which Daum was one of the leading glassmakers. Around 1900-1910, the factory developed some of its most desirable lighting models, combining technical mastery with deeply naturalistic decoration. Scenic lamps such as this were intended not simply to illuminate a room, but to create a mood - intimate, refined, and unmistakably French. The colour palette is particularly attractive here. The glass presents a rich harmony of deep blue-green and smoky violet-brown tones, softened by opalescent milky areas and enlivened by warm amber and golden light effects. When lit, the shade reveals a radiant sunset-like glow, while the foot echoes the same visual language, giving the whole piece a rare unity. Condition is very good overall. There is a small trace consistent with a bubble or bubble mark in the lower part of the foot, near the base, but it remains discreet and does not detract from the beauty or display quality of the lamp. The piece retains a highly elegant presence, both unlit and illuminated, and offers exactly the kind of refined decorative impact collectors seek in period Daum Nancy lighting.
