Pair of polychrome devotional statues depicting the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child and Saint Joseph with lilies. The figures are painted in traditional blue, cream, brown, green, and gilt tones. Both stand on multi-sided dark bases with impressed maker’s marks. They are made of wood with gilding and polychrome gesso on the surface. Overall presentation remains attractive and well preserved. There is visible age-related surface wear throughout. Minor scuffs and abrasions appear on the painted surfaces. Small paint losses are visible, especially around the bases and edges. The bases show rubbing, chipping, and handling wear. There are also a few small chips near the lower edges of the base. Saint Joseph’s lily stem and flowers show wear and minor fragility. The statues retain their original finish and overall form, therefore, in fairly good condition.
