The inscription is in the handwriting of Emperor Taizong Zhao Guangyi, the so-called "Imperial Script," reflecting the highly developed metal coinage and usage during the Song Dynasty. The Chunhua Yuanbao's calligraphy is elegant and flowing, very unrestrained. This is because Emperor Taizong was a lifelong lover of calligraphy. After ascending the throne, he paid attention to calligraphy and ordered the collection of calligraphy works by ancient emperors and famous ministers.
