A fine ancient Greek, Athenian silver tetradrachm depicting the profile head of Athena on its obverse. The Greek goddess is portrayed facing right, wearing a crested Attic helmet ornamented with laurel leaves and vine scrolls. She is further adorned with an earring. Her facial features are delicately rendered, with fine detail to her almond-shaped eyes, closed lips and straight nose. The reverse features an owl standing right, with its head facing, with large, round eyes and a short, pointed beak, within an incuse square. Texture is implied through granulation across the body, and feathers through incisions to the wings. The right field bears the Greek legend ΑΘΕ (Athe) whilst an olive sprig features in the top left.
