Pierce - Meteor 9crt gold - Ohne mindestpreis - Herren - 1950

On offer is a solid 9K-gold PIERCE cushion-cased manual-winding wristwatch produced during the 1930s to 1950s. It features a signed silvered dial with applied Roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The watch, which houses 15 jewels, was manufactured by the Pierce Watch Co. Inc., a Swiss brand known for its technical precision. The watch's inner case is marked "meteor", likely the brand name or the specific case line. "British Made" indicates the case was made in the UK, which was common for imported Swiss movements during the early-to-mid 20th century. "A.L.D." are the initials of Aaron Lufkin Dennison, the founder of the Dennison Watch Case Company, a major British manufacturer based in Birmingham that supplied cases to many high-end brands. Watches featuring a Swiss movement in a Dennison-made case were frequently sold in the UK and Commonwealth countries between the 1920s and 1950s. The watch measures 29mm excluding the crown, and weighs 20gm including the band. The condition of the watch is used as there is some slight denting on the left side of the case and a slight nick at the top and bottom of the bezel (which I attempted as best I could to capture in the photos). The glass is clear and scratch free, but the dial has aged and shows some patina, and the lettering of Swiss at the bottom of the dial shows some flaking. However, these minor flaws do not detract from the charm of this 76+ aged watch. Also visible in the photos is that the case back has been inscribed. The watch winds and runs smoothly and is keeping good time at the moment of listing. Insured shipping with tracking.
