Blending a substantial cushion case with an ultra-thin automatic movement, this timepiece represents a fascinating era of design where elegance met modern geometry. The visually captivating dial and impressive mechanical performance make this a highly compelling acquisition for enthusiasts of vintage dress watches. Brand: Omega Model: De Ville Reference Number: 155.003 Serial Number: 36997948 Movement: Automatic Caliber 711 Dial: Two-tone champagne with vertically brushed center, crisp black printed typography, exceptionally clean condition Case Size: 36 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Gold-plated with stainless steel caseback Production Year: 1973 Condition: Excellent vintage condition with a beautifully preserved dial and honest case wear. Recently serviced movement. Dial and Hands The dial is a masterclass in 1970s minimalist design, featuring a striking two-tone champagne layout. The central rectangular sector is finished with a distinct vertical brushing, which plays beautifully with the light, while the outer track remains smooth. Fine black printed lines radiate from the center to serve as hour markers, creating a highly legible and architectural appearance. An applied black Omega logo sits above the perfectly preserved "OMEGA automatic" typography. The simple, elegant black stick hands provide excellent contrast. Carefully inspected under magnification, the dial remains in stunning condition, showing no significant spots, moisture marks, or print loss, maintaining an exceptionally clean and fresh appearance. Case and Crystal The 36 mm cushion-shaped case is crafted from base metal with a 20-micron gold plating, offering a substantial presence on the wrist. The case retains its original sweeping lines and geometry, though it exhibits honest signs of wear consistent with its age. There are visible surface scratches and typical wear to the gold plating on the harder edges and lug tips, revealing the base metal beneath in small localized areas. A beautifully detailed, original Omega signed crown is present at the three o'clock position. The domed crystal is clear and protects the dial perfectly, showing only light superficial handling marks. The stainless steel caseback features the crisp De Ville logo and "DUSTPROOF" engraving, remaining highly legible. Movement Inside beats the sophisticated Omega Caliber 711, a beautifully finished ultra-thin automatic movement featuring 24 jewels and adjusted to two positions. The copper-toned movement is visually striking, remarkably clean, and mechanically robust. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The movement have been recently serviced. The timegrapher results indicate a highly precise +4 to +7 seconds per day with strong amplitude. Strap The watch is fitted with a period-correct gold-tone brick-link style bracelet. This high-quality vintage bracelet perfectly complements the cushion case design and the overall 1970s aesthetic. It is sized to comfortably accommodate a wrist up to 18.5 cm. Condition This timepiece is presented in excellent vintage condition. The dial is the undeniable highlight, remaining incredibly sharp and virtually flawless. The case displays honest, expected vintage wear, including some plating loss on the extremities, which adds to its authentic character without detracting from its overall charm. The movement is exceptionally clean and running with outstanding precision. Dimensions The case measures 36 mm in width, excluding the original signed crown. The attached bracelet will accommodate a wrist size of up to 18.5 cm. Remarks This De Ville is a quintessential example of Omega's ability to blend avant-garde shapes with traditional watchmaking elegance. The combination of the ultra-thin automatic caliber and the mesmerizing brushed champagne dial makes it a highly attractive dress piece that stands out in any vintage collection. History The Omega De Ville line originally began as part of the esteemed Seamaster collection before becoming its own standalone series in 1967.
