A very attractive specimen of the 5 Francs "Tête Laurée" (Laureate Head) struck during the Second French Empire under Napoleon III. This specific coin was struck at the Strasbourg Mint, identified by the Anchor symbol on the reverse. It features the masterful engraving of Albert-Désiré Barre, whose "A" privy mark is visible behind the Emperor's neck and signature below the bust.
