Dial and Hands
The dial of this Lord Matic is a visual centerpiece, featuring a spectacular, deeply textured geometric pattern in a rich, vibrant blue. The texture creates a captivating interplay of light and shadow, shifting dynamically depending on the viewing angle. The dial is exceptionally clean, showing no visible spots, staining, or moisture damage. It features applied, faceted, silver-tone baton indices that complement the intricate background. The Seiko and Lord Matic logos are also proudly applied. The day-date aperture at three o'clock is framed in silver, displaying both English and Kanji days. The dauphine-style hour and minute hands, along with the sweeping seconds hand, remain clean and bright, maintaining their polished finish with no signs of oxidation.
Case and Crystal
The 36mm stainless steel case exhibits classic 1970s Seiko architecture with sharp, angular lugs and a distinct transition between the brushed top surfaces and polished flanks. The case remains in very good condition, showing honest, light handling marks consistent with its age, but retaining strong factory lines without evidence of over-polishing. The watch is fitted with a remarkable faceted crystal that features a central diamond-like cut, further enhancing the three-dimensional visual effect of the dial beneath it. The crystal appears clear with only minor, superficial signs of wear. The solid stainless steel screw-down caseback is clearly engraved with the Seiko logo, reference number 5606-7340, and serial number 424290.
Movement
Powering this timepiece is the Seiko Caliber 5606A, a highly regarded 25-jewel automatic movement known for its reliability and smooth operation. The movement features a quickset day and date function and hacking seconds. The movement is clean and bright, with the rotor clearly marked "Seiko 25 Jewels Japan 5606A." Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. The timegrapher result reads -35 to -49 seconds per day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with an original Seiko Lord Matic stainless steel bracelet. The bracelet features a classic multi-link design with brushed outer links and polished center links, complementing the case finish perfectly. The folding clasp is cleanly stamped with "Seiko LM." The bracelet shows moderate, age-appropriate wear and stretch, remaining structurally sound and visually appealing. It accommodates a wrist size of approximately 18cm.
Condition
This Seiko Lord Matic is in excellent vintage condition. The case retains sharp, well-defined lines with only light, superficial marks from normal use. The spectacular blue textured dial is immaculately preserved, free from any visible degradation or spotting. The faceted crystal adds significant character and remains in very good shape. The original LM-signed bracelet completes the authentic presentation.
