Mask - Holz - Tibetische Mahakala-Maske (Ohne mindestpreis)

A fiersome carved wooden mask depicting Mahakala, one of the more wrathful gods, measuring circa 27cm in height and weighing 755g, with traces of polychromy. Stamped to the reverse with old export wax seal of the Kathmandu Archeological Service, guaranteeing that the mask was compliant with export duty and antiquity regulations (at the time of the stamp the item should not have been more than 100 years old). Such seals have been in use since circa 1950.

Condition: A few chips, mostly to the back. Minor wear commensurate with age and use.
