Comtoise-Uhr - Dufour à Clamecy - - Vergoldetes Kupfer - 1800 - 1830

TITLE Exceptional Antique French Comtoise Clock – Dufour à Clamecy – Early 19th Century – Complete & Working – Rich Gilt Front DESCRIPTION A rare and complete early 19th-century French Comtoise clock, signed Dufour à Clamecy, in working condition and with a beautifully preserved gilt front. This elegant and characterful timepiece dates from circa 1800–1830 and represents the rich tradition of French Comtoise (Morbier) clocks, once the heart of rural interiors. The finely cast and gilt front is richly decorated with birds and floral motifs, reflecting the refined aesthetic of the late Louis XVI / Empire period. Its warm patina and original details give the clock a strong visual presence and undeniable historical charm. The white enamel dial with Roman numerals remains clear and elegant, complemented by its original openwork hands. The signature “à Clamecy” refers to the historic Burgundian town where the clock was originally retailed. Inside, the clock houses a traditional 8-day mechanical movement, driven by two weights and striking on a bell. The clock is in working condition and offered as a complete set — increasingly difficult to find in this state.
