Bettwäsche aus dem späten 19. Jahrhundert mit den Initialen C.N. - Stoff - 3 cm - 2 cm
This bed linen appears to date from the late 19th century. It has a rustic, almost peasant character—intended here not in a derogatory sense, but as a reflection of its authentic charm and craftsmanship. The piece suggests the beginnings of a more elaborate design, seemingly left incomplete toward the center, which adds to its unique appeal and sense of individuality.
The embroidered initials “C.N.” are executed in soft relief, standing out elegantly and giving the linen a strong personal identity. The edges, shaped in a scalloped pattern, are particularly noteworthy: rather than being part of the linen itself, they are worked in lace, lending the piece a distinct refinement and visual importance.
Lace elements from this period are often found damaged due to wear—especially from contact with jewelry—but in this case, they remain remarkably well preserved. This suggests that the linen saw little use and was likely stored carefully in an armoire for much of its life.
Further enhancing its quality are four rows of drawn thread work along the edges, including one executed in Venetian ajour technique. The linen itself is heavy, consistent with textiles produced in the late 19th century, and reflects the durability and craftsmanship typical of that era.
