Kinga Makowka - The Colour Of A Thought

This work forms part of my 2026 collection of Unfiltered Studies; a series of small, intimate original paintings created between larger bodies of work. Painted with instinct and immediacy, these pieces move away from the slower, structured layering of my primary collections. They hold the energy of a first thought: atmospheric, unguarded, and close to the pulse of the studio. The series explores the emotional impact of light on the mind; how softness, shadow, and subtle shifts in colour can change how we feel within a space. A small-format original work, offering collectors an intimate entry point into my wider practice. *** Arriving ready to hang. Hand-signed by the artist and accompanied by a custom, wax-sealed Certificate of Authenticity. *** Kinga Makowka is a Polish-born artist based in Yorkshire, whose work explores the emotional terrain between memory and presence, stillness and sensation. Working primarily on raw linen and cotton canvas, she builds her paintings in delicate layers; soft pigments, textures, and metallic details that seem to catch not just light, but time itself. Her pieces do not aim to capture a specific place, but rather a moment… a feeling. Much of her work is rooted in personal reflection a search for meaning. Kinga invites the viewer into a deeply human space: one of emotion, nostalgia, and connection. Her practice often draws from her own life - family rituals, nature walks, the chaos of ADHD, and the peace she seeks through it all. It is a cartography of the internal world, mapping feeling through form.
