Japan, Meiji. 2 Bu Kin 1868-1869 (Ohne mindestpreis)
A Japanese 2 Bu Kin rectangular coin from the early Meiji period, from my private collection.
This is a 2 Bu Kin (Meiji Nibu Ban Kin). Historically, this specific type of 2 Bu coin was minted for a very short period between 1868 and 1869 (Meiji 1 to Meiji 2), marking the dawn of the Meiji Restoration and the modernization of Japan's currency system.
The obverse features the Kiri crest (Paulownia) and the "Nibu" (二分) denomination. The reverse bears the signature of the mint official "Mitsu-tsugu" (光次). The coin retains a golden tone, and the characters and surface details are clearly visible. As an old, circulated item, it shows natural signs of age.
Please note: This coin is offered ungraded. We do not assign a specific condition grade to our items. Please carefully review all provided macro photographs to make your own assessment of the condition, details, and exact state of the coin prior to bidding.
