Jethro Tull is a British progressive rock band formed in late 1967 and still active today, making it one of the longest-running rock groups. It has always been led by Scottish singer and flautist Ian Anderson, who has written virtually all of the band's songs. His musicians essentially act as his support, as he is the only member who has remained since the band's inception; only guitarist Martin Barre comes close, having joined with them on their second album. The band achieved great popularity in the first half of the 1970s with iconic albums in rock history such as Aqualung and Thick as a Brick, and over time became a cult band. Jethro Tull was the first band to receive an award in the 1970s for selling more tickets at Madison Square Garden (New York) than any other group, often having to add a fourth show to their visits due to overwhelming demand. Two great vinyl records from this group. One is the iconic THICK AS A BRICK with its characteristic newspaper cover, and the second features live recordings.
