SEIKO, Japan's world-renowned watch brand, has continued to mark over 130 years of history since its founding in 1881. From the 1960s to the 1970s, alongside Japan's period of high economic growth, SEIKO gained renown and became Japan's representative watchmaker. This watch was manufactured during that era. Positioned as a premium model below the Grand Seiko and King Seiko lines, this Roadmatic featured the then-new 56-series movement and was launched as a quasi-luxury item, becoming immensely popular. Designed for working professionals, it offered smart design and functionality, representing a high standard in every aspect as a premium men's wristwatch. Numerous models existed within this series. The model featured here is a TV-screen-shaped stainless steel case variant from this Roadmatic lineup. The case features a hairline finish on the front, showcasing intricate craftsmanship and a refined aesthetic. The dial is a silver-toned dial with a sunburst finish. The elongated bar indices are black, offering excellent readability. At the 9 o'clock position, the LM logo, representing SEIKO and LOAD MATIC, is prominently displayed upright. At 3 o'clock is the date and day calendar, complete with a hacking (second hand stop) function. Simple crown operation enables quick day-date changes, eliminating cumbersome adjustments and making it ideal for daily wear. The mesh bracelet bears engraved SEIKO and LM markings. This piece combines stylish practicality with a quintessential 1970s form, making it a true gem.
