2-Tage-Längenuhr - Zenith - Vintage - Messing - 1930-1940

Zenith Marine Chronometer – Details Serial number: 32583 • Manufacturer: Zenith, Switzerland • Movement: 2‑day (54‑hour) chronometer movement Ver. 260 • Stop‑seconds: Fully functional • Accuracy: Tested at approx. –6.5 seconds per day, exceptional for an unserviced chronometer of this age It has been in the family for more that 50 years and has not been serviced in that period. • Condition: ◦ Original mahogany box with internal Zenith label ◦ Fully functional gimbal suspension ◦ Clean dial with original hands ◦ Smooth winding (spring‑wound, (Becel) no key required) • Overall assessment: A remarkably well‑preserved and fully functional Zenith chronometer with excellent timekeeping stability. Rare in this condition. The key for the cabinet is missing. There is no damage or alterations. Both instruments, Chronometer and Sextant, were owned and used by a Danish merchant fleet captain during his service at sea. He carried this chronometer and sextant to verify the accuracy of the ship’s own navigational instruments — a practice common among highly experienced officers. The set has remained in the family for more than half a century and has been carefully stored. I have a video of the clock wound up and working. I also have a Hezzanith Sextant for sale.
