Antiker japanischer lackierter Bambusblumenkorb — elegante Sanduhrform - Bambus - Japan - 1900–2000

Item Description This elegant Japanese bamboo flower basket (hanahiro) is a fine example of traditional Japanese basketry (takezaiku), crafted in the classic cylindrical form known as tsutsu-gata. The basket is woven from flat-cut bamboo strips that have been treated with a rich, deep burgundy-red lacquer finish, lending it a striking visual depth and warmth characteristic of high-quality Japanese craft objects. The structure features a distinctive hourglass silhouette: both the upper rim and the lower base flare outward, while the central body narrows gracefully at the waist. The weaving technique combines two distinct patterns — a dense, closely woven ajiro (lattice) band encircling both the top and bottom sections, while the main body employs an open diagonal cross-weave (yotsume-ami) that creates elegant diamond-shaped openings. This interplay of tight and open weave demonstrates the skilled craftsmanship inherent in traditional Japanese bamboo work. The rim is finished with a plaited braid (fuchidori) of overlapping bamboo strips twisted into a rope-like edging, adding structural integrity and decorative refinement. The flat, square base features a further cross-pattern weave. Designed to hold a separate inner water vessel (suiban), this type of basket flower vase has been used for centuries in Japanese flower arranging (ikebana) and tea ceremony (chadō) settings. A beautifully tactile and visually compelling piece that brings the spirit of Japanese aesthetics to any interior. Size Height: 19 cm Width: 7 cm Depth: 7 cm Weight 80 g Condition This basket shows clear signs of use and age; there is surface soiling and fading of the lacquer finish throughout, with some fraying and loosening of the bamboo weaves, particularly around the rim area. Sold as-is; no cleaning has been performed. NOTICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. I appreciate your cooperation.
