Haizuka kiln(灰塚窯) - Sadaaki Kido(木戸貞昭) - Chawan - Shigaraki-Keramik(信楽焼) - Steinzeug - Dynamic Feldspar Flow

A striking contemporary “Hafuri Shino” chawan by Japanese ceramic artist Sadaaki Kido, created during the period when his kiln was located in Haizuka, Osaka. The bowl bears a deeply impressed kiln seal beside the foot ring, believed to reference the artist’s former “Haizuka” kiln period before relocating to Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, where he currently operates several traditional anagama kilns. Kido’s work is admired among collectors of modern Japanese ceramics for its powerful and highly individual expression. Rather than following a formal lineage, he pursued the aesthetics of ancient Japanese kilns through independent study and experimentation. This piece beautifully showcases the distinctive characteristics of “Hafuri Shino”: dramatic flowing white feldspar glaze over a deep dark clay body, accented by fiery exposed clay tones and natural kiln effects. The dynamic movement of the glaze creates an overwhelming visual presence while preserving the rugged spirit of traditional Japanese pottery. Although the original signed wooden box is not included, the tea bowl itself possesses exceptional character and authenticity. It is a piece meant not only for display, but also to be enjoyed and “grown” through everyday use in tea practice. A compelling work for collectors of expressive Shino ware, contemporary studio pottery, or Japanese tea ceremony utensils. Diameter: approx. 12 cm Height: approx. 8 cm Weight: 350 g Packed weight: approx. 1,000 g Shipping & Tax: The item will be carefully packed for safe international delivery.
