Wikingerzeit Silber Axt-Amulett, 9.–10. Jahrhundert n. Chr. — Seltenes Schutzsymbol in der Form eines Nordischen - 18 mm (Ohne mindestpreis)

Silver Viking Amulet in the Form of a Moon Axe — Small Protective Sign with Great Northern Power Rare Silver Amulet of the Viking Age — Axe, Moon, and Protection United in One Object Viking-Age Silver “Moon Axe” Amulet, 9th–10th Century AD — Archaic Symbol of Strength and Protection Description: Rare silver amulet from the Viking Age, dated to the 9th–10th century AD. The piece is designed in the form of a small axe or moon axe and combines two powerful symbolic worlds: the force of a weapon and the protective power of a personal amulet. The form is simple, yet highly expressive. The broad crescent-shaped blade recalls a ceremonial axe or a Seker-like blade, while the narrow upper shaft gives the object a clear and balanced silhouette. Due to its compact size, the amulet does not appear heavy, but elegant and archaic. Particularly interesting is the preserved ring with small applied spiral elements. These details strengthen the impression of a personal pendant, worn not merely as jewelry, but as a sign of protection, strength, and belonging. In the northern world, the axe was more than a tool or a weapon. It stood for power, decision, readiness for battle, and protection of the home. In small amulet form, this meaning was carried close to the body. Silver gave the object additional value and visible status. The surface shows natural age wear, a warm silver patina, and small irregularities that suit the historical character of the piece. No modern cleaning. No restoration. The original character has been preserved. This is not an ordinary pendant. It is a small object with strong symbolism: axe, moon form, silver, and protection in a single shape. Legend: A warrior did not always need to carry a great axe. Sometimes a small sign of silver was enough. Worn close to the body, silent, light, yet full of meaning. The form recalled a blade. The curve recalled the moon. The ring held it on the cord, but its meaning held it to the person. Perhaps it was a protective sign for the journey. Perhaps a symbol of strength. Perhaps a personal sign that only its wearer truly understood. Small in size. Strong in effect. A silver shadow of the old northern world. Details: Culture: Viking / Northern tradition Period: 9th–10th century AD Material: Silver Type: Axe amulet / Moon axe pendant Size: 18 × 18 mm Ring: approx. 10 mm Weight: 1.65 g Condition: Authentic antique condition with natural patina and age wear Provenance: Acquired on the European antiques market, from a private collection.

Rare Silver Amulet of the Viking Age — Axe, Moon, and Protection United in One Object

Viking-Age Silver “Moon Axe” Amulet, 9th–10th Century AD — Archaic Symbol of Strength and Protection

Description:

Rare silver amulet from the Viking Age, dated to the 9th–10th century AD.

Legend:

A warrior did not always need to carry a great axe.

Sometimes a small sign of silver was enough.

Worn close to the body,
silent,
light,
yet full of meaning.

The form recalled a blade.
The curve recalled the moon.
The ring held it on the cord,
but its meaning held it to the person.

Perhaps it was a protective sign for the journey.
Perhaps a symbol of strength.
Perhaps a personal sign
that only its wearer truly understood.

Small in size.
Strong in effect.
A silver shadow of the old northern world.
