Laco - Electro - Mechanical - Ohne mindestpreis - Herren - 1960-1969

Vintage Laco Electric – Cal. 861 – German Electro-Mechanical Innovation from the 1960s Offered here is a highly unusual and collectible vintage Laco Electric wristwatch from the 1960s, powered by the rare electro-mechanical Calibre 861 movement. Founded in Pforzheim, Germany, Laco (Lacher & Co.) became one of the historic German watch manufacturers known for technical innovation and military timepieces. During the early 1960s, Laco developed the fascinating Calibre 861 — an early electronic movement that combines battery-powered technology with a traditional mechanical balance wheel system. Unlike modern quartz watches, this movement still operates with a true oscillating balance, giving the watch a distinctly mechanical character and ticking sound. This example features one of the most distinctive designs of the era: the setting mechanism is hidden beneath the case. To adjust the time, the small setting pin located on the back case must be pulled outward — a very unconventional and futuristic solution typical of experimental 1960s electric watches. The watch has a beautifully proportioned gold-plated case measuring approximately 35 mm excluding crown and 42.5 mm lug-to-lug. It is fitted with a new leather strap that complements the vintage aesthetic perfectly. The watch remains an excellent representation of the transition period between traditional mechanical watchmaking and the electronic revolution of the 1960s.
