Konski & Krüger Berling- 1926 - Art Déco Lautsprecher

Konski & Krüger “Membra” External Radio Loudspeaker – Art Deco – Germany – c. 1926–1928 In excellent tested and working condition – No reserve. A highly decorative and increasingly scarce early external radio loudspeaker produced by Konski & Krüger in Berlin, Germany, during the pioneering years of domestic radio broadcasting. This elegant “Membra” model dates from approximately 1926–1928 and represents the transitional period when radio receivers were still commonly sold without integrated speakers. The loudspeaker features a beautifully shaped arched wooden cabinet with a striking Art Deco-inspired fretwork grille in a fan/shell motif, mounted over its original acoustic fabric. The warm-toned veneered wooden housing combined with the dark carved grille gives the piece a refined architectural appearance typical of late 1920s German radio design. Historically, external loudspeakers such as this example were essential companions to early valve radios. The handwritten period note attached to the reverse states that this loudspeaker was specifically used with the Philips Type 720A / 730A “Super-Inductie” receivers. These famous Philips receivers required a suitable high-impedance external speaker due to the absence of an internal output transformer, making this 100 Ohm Membra speaker a technically and historically appropriate pairing. An authentic and decorative collector’s piece for enthusiasts of early wireless technology, Art Deco interiors, or pre-war industrial design. Condition: In excellent tested and working condition. The wooden cabinet retains a beautiful warm patina with only minor age-related signs of use consistent with its age. The original speaker cloth/textile is in perfect condition without tears, holes, stains, or wear. Original rear components and vintage wiring remain present. Decorative grille and fabric are exceptionally well preserved. Dimensions: 37 x 34 x 13 cm (height × width × depth) Weight: Approx. 2.75 kg Country of origin: Germany Manufacturer: Konski & Krüger, Berlin Period: Circa 1926–1928 Impedance: 100 Ohm This lot will be carefully packed and shipped insured.
