Römisches Reich Bronze Ring - mit Aquila Intaglio (Ohne mindestpreis)

Ancient Roman Bronze Ring with Aquila Intaglio Roman Imperial Period, circa 1st–3rd century AD A finely preserved ancient Roman bronze ring featuring an engraved bezel depicting the Aquila — the eagle emblem that served as one of the most powerful military and imperial symbols of Rome. The bird is shown frontally with partially spread wings and a pronounced hooked beak, rendered in a stylized but unmistakably Roman provincial manner. The engraving retains strong visual clarity despite age-related surface wear and mineral accretions. The Aquila was intimately associated with Roman legions, Jupiter, and imperial authority. Rings bearing eagle iconography were worn across the empire by soldiers, officials, and civilians alike as symbols of power, divine protection, loyalty, and victory. The broad oval bezel and tapering hoop correspond well with common Roman bronze ring forms of the early Imperial era. The ring displays an attractive dark olive-green patina with scattered red cuprite deposits throughout the surface, consistent with ancient bronze burial oxidation. Wear patterns and smoothing to the bezel are compatible with prolonged ancient use. Condition: Intact and wearable form. Surface wear, earthen encrustation, and corrosion consistent with great age. Engraved motif remains clearly visible. Minor deformation to hoop from antiquity. Dimensions & Weight: Weight: 6.6 g Inner diameter: approx. 14.3–20.8 mm (slightly irregular ancient form) Ring Size: approximately US 7–7.5 / EU 54–56 (ancient hoop slightly irregular and out-of-round). Attribution: Ancient Roman Empire, bronze signet/intaglio ring with Aquila motif, circa 1st–3rd century AD. Provenance: From a European private collection, acquired in the late 1980s. A signed certificate of authenticity can be provided in PDF format upon request. Collector’s Note: Roman eagle rings are among the most enduring expressions of imperial identity and military symbolism. Examples with bold figural bezels and intact hoop structures remain highly sought after, particularly when the engraved device is still legible and visually striking as in this specimen.
