Moulded Kraak Porcelain Dish with Precious Objects
China, Wanli to Tianqi period (circa 1615–1630)
A finely moulded blue and white Kraak porcelain dish, decorated in the centre with a grouping of precious objects, symbolising prosperity, scholarly refinement, and good fortune. The cavetto is divided into the characteristic radiating panels, each containing circular roundels enclosing further auspicious objects.
The reverse is decorated with the typical arrangement of symbols within panel divisions, a well-known feature of late Ming Kraak wares produced for export. The dish is moulded with a gently lobed rim, enhancing the rhythmic panelled design.
According to Maura Rinaldi, the border corresponds to Border Type VIII, dating the piece to approximately 1615–1630.
