A selection of the best bunches from vineyards with an average age of 60 years and aging for 25 months in new French oak barrels, produce a tremendously elegant, complex wine with excellent aging. "Founded in 1989 and located in the centre of Samaniego, Álava, in Remírez de Ganuza we make contemporary Rioja wines. The winery has 80 hectares of its own vineyards. There are 70 estates made up of more than 200 plots in 9 municipalities in the foothills of Sierra Cantabria: Labastida, San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Ábalos, Samaniego, Leza, Elciego, Navaridas, Laguardia and Elvillar. Since our beginnings we have been characterised by revolutionising some of the traditional methods in the area, introducing improvements both in the vineyard and in winemaking. One of the most notable systems is that of separating the Tempranillo bunches into two parts. The shoulders, with perfect phenolic ripeness, are used for wines with more aging and storage potential, the Remírez de Ganuza Reserva and Gran Reserva, while the tips are used for the young carbonic maceration wine, the Erre Punto."
