Wikingerzeit Bronze Alter nordischer Bronzering mit Runenornament – 9. bis 11. Jahrhundert n. Chr. - 18 mm (Ohne mindestpreis)

A rare ancient Viking bronze ring with runic ornament, dated to the 9th–11th century AD. Culture: Viking / Norse Period: 9th–11th century AD Material: Bronze Type: Ring / personal jewellery Inner diameter: approx. 18 mm Condition: Authentic ancient condition with natural patina and age wear Shipping: European Union only Acquired on the European antiquities market, from a private collection. This attractive bronze ring belongs to the personal jewellery tradition of the Viking Age. Its most distinctive feature is the runic-style ornament, which gives the piece a strong northern character and immediate collector appeal. In the Viking world, rings were more than simple adornments. They could reflect identity, status, personal taste and cultural belonging. A ring decorated with runic ornament carried an added symbolic dimension, linking the object to the visual language of the Norse world. Runic motifs held special meaning in early medieval Scandinavia. Even when used decoratively, they evoked ideas of memory, protection, identity and the power of signs. This gives the ring a deeper presence. It is not only jewellery, but a personal object connected with the symbolic culture of the North. The form is simple, compact and wearable, exactly the kind of object that could have accompanied its owner in everyday life. Its restrained shape is balanced by the ornament, which provides character without excess and makes the ring visually more memorable. The bronze surface shows a natural ancient patina with green and earthy tones, together with visible traces of age and burial. The object preserves a convincing archaeological character and has not lost its early medieval appeal. The ring shows normal age wear, surface irregularities and ancient corrosion traces, fully consistent with a genuine Viking-period bronze object. The ornament remains an important decorative and identifying feature of the piece. A rare and meaningful Viking bronze ring for collectors of Norse antiquities, early medieval jewellery and objects with runic character. More than a simple ornament, it is a personal witness to craftsmanship, identity and the symbolic world of the Viking Age.
