Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 50mm f/1.7 Standard Prime Lens (Minolta)
Hello from Japan!
We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world.
IMPORTANT — Please read carefully:
The rear element of this lens has slight haze. Please see the Optical Condition section below for details.
About this Lens:
Released in April 1973, the Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 50mm f/1.7 holds a notable place in Minolta lens history as the very first 50mm Rokkor standard lens. From the introduction of the Minolta SR system in 1958 up until 1973, Minolta used 55mm as the standard focal length for its faster nifty-fifties (f/1.7–f/2). In 1973, Minolta converted all of its standard lenses to a 50mm focal length and established the four-tier f/1.2 – f/1.4 – f/1.7 – f/2 aperture lineup that it would maintain throughout the rest of the SR system's life. This lens is the first-generation embodiment of that transition.
Optical construction is a classic 6-element / 5-group double-Gauss design — indicated by the "PF" suffix in Minolta's naming convention (P = 5 groups, F = 6 elements) — with multi-coating ("MC" = Meter Coupled with multi-coating). It is well regarded among Minolta users for its characteristic warm color rendering, smooth focusing action, solid all-metal construction, and pleasant bokeh at wide apertures.
Mount: Minolta SR (also known as MC/MD mount). Compatible with all Minolta SR/MC/MD manual focus film cameras (SR-T series, XE, XD, X-700, etc.) and widely adaptable to modern mirrorless cameras (Sony E, Fujifilm X, Micro Four Thirds, Canon RF, Nikon Z, etc.) via inexpensive Minolta MD-to-mirrorless adapters.
Condition: USED — Excellent
Pre-owned with distinct signs of use. The lens is fully functional and the optics are mostly clean, with the exception of slight haze on the rear element as noted below.
Serial Number
Please check the photo. (S/N 2019908)
Appearance
Tiny scuffs from normal use; overall the cosmetic condition is good.
Please check the photos for details.
Optical Condition
Haze: Slight haze on the rear element. The front element and internal optics are otherwise clean.
Fungus: No
Scratch: No
Balsam separation: No
Dust: Almost none
Shooting impact: The slight rear-element haze may produce a very mild softening effect at the widest apertures (f/1.7–f/2.8). Stopped down, image quality is unaffected for most practical purposes.
Functional
The helicoid (focus ring) operates smoothly.
The aperture blades are clean and snap properly at all stops.
