Origin: Japan (Arita/Imari kiln)
Period: Meiji era (late 19th century, c. 1880–1900)
A charming small double-gourd form porcelain vase, a classic example of Japanese Imari export ware from the Meiji period. The body is decorated in the characteristic Imari palette of underglaze blue and iron red, with fan-shaped cartouches featuring bird and flower motifs, surrounded by dense floral patterns. The base is unmarked, typical of utilitarian export wares from this period.
Condition: The vase is in excellent overall condition with no visible cracks, chips, or repairs. The colours remain vibrant, with minimal wear to the enamel.
A lovely decorative piece, perfect for collectors of Japanese Meiji porcelain.
