Zierornament (2) - Japan - Natural Stone & Wood-Stand

Item Description A Japanese Decorative Stone Object with Hand-Carved Wooden Stand — Believed to be Jasper — Japan — circa 1970s This is a natural polished stone, believed to be jasper, presented on a hand-carved wooden stand made by its previous owner. The stone has not been formally identified. A Japanese woman who loved stones spent decades with this one. She carved the stand herself — shaped to hold this stone, and no other. Together, they have been inseparable since the 1970s. This is not a manufactured object. It is the result of a lifetime of quiet attention. The Stone A rounded, low-domed form — smooth in the hand, substantial on the display surface. At 177 g and W 6.5 × H 4.0 × D 5.0 cm, it sits with natural confidence without the stand. The surface is polished, revealing a complex interplay of amber, ochre, purple-grey, and deep slate — colours that shift depending on the light and the angle. No two faces read the same. The pattern has the quality of something mapped rather than decorated: lines that went somewhere, long before anyone was looking. The Stand  — Hand-Carved by the Previous Owner The stand was not purchased. It was made. Carved by hand from warm-grained hardwood, its elliptical form tapers to four small feet — stable, considered, unhurried in its proportions. The hollow at the centre has been shaped to receive this stone precisely. The reddish-brown of the wood draws out the amber running through the stone's surface. A stand made for one stone. Found together. Offered together. Condition The stone is in good condition consistent with decades of careful display. A small natural indentation of approximately 2 mm, with slight darkening, is visible on the rim of the stand. Photographs taken under considered lighting. Only items shown are included. Stones do not choose their keepers. But sometimes, looking at one long enough, it becomes difficult to imagine it belonging to anyone else. Size & Weight Stone and stand: W 9.0 × H 5.0 × D 7.0 cm — 207 g Stone only: W 6.5 × H 4.0 × D 5.0 cm — 177 g SHIPPING & CUSTOMS INFORMATION [ SHIPPING ] Carrier: Japan Post (International ePacket Light) Estimated delivery: Typically 10–14 days. Item Description
A Japanese Decorative Stone Object with Hand-Carved Wooden Stand — Believed to be Jasper — Japan — circa 1970s
This is a natural polished stone, believed to be jasper, presented on a hand-carved wooden stand made by its previous owner.

The Stone
A rounded, low-domed form — smooth in the hand, substantial on the display surface.

The Stand
— Hand-Carved by the Previous Owner
The stand was not purchased.
Offered together.

approximately 2 mm, with slight darkening, is visible on the rim of the stand.

Photographs taken under considered lighting. Only items shown are included.
