DESCRIPTION:
This natural rough diamond presents a beautiful brown colouration with warm earthy depth, subtle amber nuances and a richly textured surface that gives the crystal a strong natural identity. Its visual appeal comes from the balance between colour, surface relief and adamantine reflections, creating a small but highly expressive example of untreated rough diamond material from Angola.
The brown tone is immediately visible across the crystal, ranging from warm medium brown to deeper brown areas depending on the angle of observation and the intensity of the light. Under directed illumination, subtle amber reflections become more apparent, giving the stone additional warmth and depth without changing its essential brown character.
The morphology is rounded, irregular and naturally freeform, consistent with alluvial diamond material shaped by geological transport. The crystal does not rely on sharp symmetry to create interest. Instead, its appeal comes from its organic shape, natural surface relief and the way light travels across its many small reflective planes.
The surface is highly textured and visually active. Fine natural growth structures, micro relief features and irregular reflective areas cover the crystal, producing scattered adamantine flashes across the brown body colour. These reflections give the diamond a lively appearance while preserving its raw and completely natural character.
Internally, the crystal shows natural inclusions and structural irregularities that contribute to its geological authenticity. These internal features reinforce the fact that the diamond remains uncut, unpolished and untreated, preserving the original character of the material as recovered.
Transparency ranges from translucent to opaque, with light interaction occurring mainly through surface reflection and partial internal diffusion. This gives the specimen a warm, earthy glow rather than a transparent gem like appearance.
Recovered from the alluvial deposits of Lunda Norte, Angola, this diamond preserves its complete natural integrity. It has not been cut, polished or enhanced, allowing its colour, surface texture and internal structure to remain exactly as formed and modified by natural geological processes.
This is a natural brown rough diamond defined by colour, texture, authenticity and preserved geological character.

COLLECTOR’S INTEREST:
For collectors of rough diamonds, specimens such as this offer a direct connection to the natural geological processes responsible for diamond formation and preservation. Unlike faceted stones, rough diamonds retain the structural evidence of their growth history, allowing collectors to appreciate the crystal as a mineral specimen rather than solely as a gemstone.
This specimen is particularly attractive due to the richness of its surface texture. The dense network of natural micro structures creates a level of visual complexity that becomes increasingly apparent under magnification, revealing details that would be completely removed during cutting or polishing.
Its warm brown colouration further enhances its appeal. Brown diamonds occupy an important position within the spectrum of natural diamond colours, particularly when combined with strong surface character and preserved natural morphology. The subtle amber nuances visible throughout the crystal provide additional warmth and depth without overwhelming the specimen’s geological identity.
Collectors often seek rough diamonds that display strong natural character rather than conventional gem qualities alone. This specimen achieves precisely that balance, combining authentic alluvial morphology, complex surface development, natural inclusions and complete geological integrity within a compact and highly displayable crystal.
LAPIDARY POTENTIAL:
Although technically suitable for cutting, transforming this specimen into a faceted stone would eliminate many of the natural features that currently define its collector value.
The intricate surface textures, micro growth structures and naturally developed morphology would be entirely removed during the cutting process, resulting in the loss of much of the geological information preserved on the crystal exterior.
Its highest value therefore lies in preservation as a natural rough diamond, where its texture, morphology and geological history remain fully intact for study, display and collection.

Shipping and Handling:
All orders are shipped by Portuguese National Post and UPS
• Dispatch time: within 1 to 3 business days after payment confirmation to Catawiki
• Transit time service: between 2 to 5 business days within europe and worldwide, depending on destination national post.

Photography and transparency:
All photographs are taken under controlled lighting conditions using a macro lens, carefully selected to present each specimen as accurately as possible.
No filters, colour enhancement, or artificial saturation are applied.
The lighting setup uses a calibrated 5500K light source, replicating neutral daylight to reveal natural tones, surface features, and internal characteristics. Under warmer or weaker indoor lighting, colours may appear slightly different, which is normal.
The purpose of this photographic process is documentation and representation, not visual enhancement. Images are intended to reflect the specimen faithfully as it appears under balanced natural light conditions.
Identification and ethics:
All specimens offered are natural and described to the best of our knowledge, based on direct sourcing, professional experience, and information provided by trusted suppliers working at the origin.
Every effort is made to ensure transparency and accuracy regarding identification, locality, and general characteristics, avoiding misleading statements about treatment, provenance, or nature.
Customs and import taxes:
Any customs duties, import fees, or local taxes applied by the destination country are entirely the responsibility of the winning bidder.
These charges are not included in the auction price or shipping cost and are determined by the buyer’s local authorities.
Guarantee and resolution:
Customer satisfaction is important. In the unlikely event of an issue such as loss, damage, or discrepancy, please contact us promptly through Catawiki’s messaging system.
Each case is handled individually and fairly, with appropriate solutions offered when justified.
Appreciation and commitment:
We sincerely thank you for your trust. Our work focuses on careful selection, accurate representation, and respectful presentation of mineral specimens with character and interest.
Each piece is chosen for its individual qualities rather than speculative or financial considerations. We aim to provide a transparent, reliable, and consistent experience for collectors at all levels.
