Japanischer Nishijin-Gewebe-Taschenriemen - Nishijinori - Japan - 20. Jahrhundert
This is a Nishijin-ori furisode (bag obi) from a Japanese kimono, one of the most ornate and prestigious styles of kimono obi.
It is a typical Nishijin-ori piece, employing a highly complex gold leaf weaving and embroidery technique. Extensive use of gold and silver threads creates a three-dimensional sheen on the black and silver-gray satin surface, a hallmark of high-end kimono obi. The woven pattern features a subtle floral undertone that shimmers under light; the outlines of flowers, butterflies, and fan patterns are delineated with gold thread, and details are embroidered with colorful silk threads, resulting in an overall opulent and layered design.
The back of the obi is plain black satin, a standard bag obi structure that folds in the middle for easy tying.
The core design features a fan pattern (fan bag/fan surface) as the main element, complemented by traditional Japanese motifs such as cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums, and butterflies, along with a large gold-threaded "obi knot" pattern. This is a typical "fan and seasonal flowers" theme, with the fan pattern symbolizing auspiciousness, prosperity, and elegance in Japanese culture.
The color scheme is primarily black and gold, accented with silver-gray and red and purple, creating a luxurious and elegant look. It's a classic combination for furisode kimonos (formal wear for unmarried women), typically worn for coming-of-age ceremonies, weddings, and other formal occasions.
