Medieval Europe - Hungary - Matthias Corvinus (1458–1490) - 2x Silver Denar - Rare Early 'Veiled Madonna' & Transylvanian Mint"
The Dawn of a Golden Age: Early "Veiled Madonna" Silver Denars (2-Piece Lot)
Presenting an exclusive 2-piece lot of medieval Hungarian silver denars, minted during the early reign of the legendary King Matthias Corvinus. Both coins in this set feature the highly desirable and artistically superior "Veiled Madonna" (Early Gothic Obverse) design, which was only used during the initial phases of the king's great financial reform.
What makes this lot truly exceptional are the rare mint and assayer marks:
Coin 1: Nagybánya Mint (Transylvanian Region) | Mint Mark: N - Hammers. An extremely fascinating and rare privy mark featuring crossed miner's hammers, linking the coin directly to the rich mining heritage of the Eastern territories.
Coin 2: Körmöcbánya Mint (Kremnica) | Mint Mark: K - A. A classic and historically significant early issue from the most important royal mint of the era.
Numismatic & Technical Details:
Denomination: 2x Silver Denar
Material: Silver (Ag)
Condition: Circulated but exceptionally attractive. While these history-worn coins actively circulated in the medieval markets of the 15th century, they boast a magnificent silver patina. The elegant early Gothic details remain beautifully visible.
