Mittelalterliches Europa - Ungarn - Matthias Corvinus (1458–1490) - 2x Silber-Denar - Frühe 'Verhüllte Madonna' (Kremnica Münzstätte)"
Der Dawn of a Golden Age: Early "Veiled Madonna" Silver Denars (2-Piece Lot)
Presenting an exclusive 2-piece lot of medieval Hungarian silver denars, minted during the early reign of the legendary King Matthias Corvinus. Both coins in this set feature the highly desirable and artistically superior "Veiled Madonna" (Early Gothic Obverse) design, which was only used during the initial, most meticulous phases of the king's great financial reform.
Both pieces originate from Kremnica (Körmöcbánya), the most prominent and prestigious royal mint of the Hungarian Kingdom, featuring two distinct assayer marks:
Coin 1: Mint Mark: K - Shield. A very elegant early issue where the master mark is depicted as a miniature heraldic shield (crest) next to the Madonna.
Coin 2: Mint Mark: K - P V. A classic and historically significant early issue from the Kremnica chambers, perfectly complementing the first piece.
Numismatic & Technical Details:
Denomination: 2x Silver Denar
Material: Silver (Ag)
Condition: Circulated but exceptionally attractive. While these history-worn coins actively circulated in the medieval markets of the 15th century, they boast a magnificent silver patina. The elegant early Gothic details and the veiled portraits remain beautifully visible.
