Dutch Art Deco Solid Oak Occasional Table, Late 1930s A small but characterful Dutch Art Deco occasional table in solid oak, estimated to date from the late 1930s. The table has a compact octagonal top and a particularly nice architectural base, with four broad tapering legs and sharp V-shaped cut-outs at the feet. The small central round lower tier construction gives the piece an extra geometric rhythm. It is a modestly sized table, but not a shy one. The proportions are upright and elegant, with the warm oak grain bringing softness to the Art Deco geometry. A useful and decorative accent piece, ideal beside an armchair, as a small plant stand, pedestal table etc. Well made, modernist in spirit. Good vintage condition with normal signs of age and use.
