Antique Hand-Carved Wooden Duck Decoy – Netherlands, circa 1920 – Marked J.N. Authentic hand-carved wooden duck decoy from the Netherlands, believed to date from around 1920. The decoy is carved from wood and features a separately carved head attached with a traditional mortise-and-tenon joint. The underside retains an old iron attachment ring and fixing point for a line or weight, indicating actual use in waterfowl hunting. The initials “J.N.” are painted on the base, most likely serving as an owner’s identification mark, as was common among hunters. The decoy displays a beautiful aged patina and genuine signs of use. The head shows several old marks and dents, likely acquired during field use. Some of these may have been caused by shotgun pellets, although this cannot be confirmed with certainty.
