The serial number is 5D0244. Based on the Seiko serial number system, this watch is believed to have been produced in December 1975. As the serial number is 0244, it appears to be an early production example. The watch is powered by Seiko Cal. 0852, a high-grade 32,768 Hz quartz movement used for date-only King Quartz models. The 0852 King Quartz models were produced for a relatively short period before the later Twin Quartz models appeared, making them an interesting and collectible generation within Seiko’s high-grade quartz history. This was a period when high-grade Japanese quartz watches were still made with a very careful and luxurious approach.
