Majak (Mayak) Crystal Desk Clock, Bakelite base – USSR, 1950s – Red Dial In excellent condition – No reserve A highly decorative and collectible Majak (Mayak) crystal desk clock, produced in the Soviet Union during the 1950s. This model is an outstanding example of post-war Soviet design, where functionality meets bold aesthetics inspired by late Art Deco and early modernist influences. Manufactured by the Serdobsk Clock Factory (Serdobsky Chasovoy Zavod), a renowned producer of mechanical timepieces within the USSR, this clock reflects both technical craftsmanship and strong visual identity. Design & Materials The clock features a substantial hand-cut crystal body, expertly faceted to create a striking light-reflecting “diamond” effect. The deep ruby-red dial with gold-tone numerals and hands adds warmth and contrast, making it a true eye-catcher. It is mounted on a circular Bakelite base, supported by elegant metal columns, giving the piece a refined architectural presence typical of the period.
