The Canon FTb is a mechanical 35mm SLR introduced by Canon in 1971 as the advanced-amateur model in its FD-mount system, positioned just below the professional Canon F-1. It offers TTL match-needle metering through a CdS cell, a fully mechanical cloth focal-plane shutter with speeds from 1 second to 1/1000, and Canons Quick Load (QL) self-threading film system. Its all-metal construction, bright viewfinder and simple, battery-independent operation make it a durable and rewarding camera that remains popular with film shooters and collectors today. The Canon FD mount lenses can also be fitted to modern mirrorless bodies via inexpensive adapters, giving the optics continued practical use. Optical Condition Lens / Sensor: The FD 50mm f/1.8 lens has slight haze, which may reduce contrast in strong backlight; otherwise the optics are usable and the body/finder are clear. Functional The camera operates correctly and the CdS meter responds to light (note: it uses the old PX625 mercury battery type, so a modern replacement cell may need slight exposure compensation).
